Huesker RSW System

Two recent projects demonstrate the versatility of the Huesker “bent mesh” Reinforced Soil Wall (RSW) system.

The first stage of the wall at Boroondara City Depot has now been completed. Up to 3m high, the flexible, low-cost facing system is simply formed from bent ARC fence mesh. Fortrac 35 geogrid locks into the aggregate backfill to provide the soil reinforcement behind the wall. Works Engineer Karl Sebbage commented that this system provided real cost savings over other wall systems that were considered.

Darren Barnett of Trident Group built his impressive wall using F81 galvanised bent steel mesh as a facing panel. Fortrac 35 geogrid provided soil reinforcement and steel ladders simply connected to the mesh ensured the face remained in position during construction.

Locally available rock was used as wall backfill. The Huesker “bent mesh” walling system may be completed with either rock face or an attractive vegetated “green wall” finish. This wall was built vertical and will be finished with a mortared rock face. The system is ideal for a range of applications including road slip repair and landscape walls.
